Do I have to be protected all day long?
YES
The period of activity of biting insects varies from one species to another, and by region (See this table for more details). Therefore, it is recommended to protect yourself at all times in high-risk areas, particularly if there are several coexisting vectors. Seek information before you leave about the times of day when the risk is at its highest, and maximise your protection at those times if you must go out.
Mosquitoes are most active at dawn and sunset. Anopheles, the vector of malaria, and Culex, which carries yellow fever, bite at night, while Aedes, the vector of chikungunya, dengue and other diseases, bites during the day.
